| Suki Horne is a National Board Certified Acupuncture Physician, Registered Nurse, and Reiki Master. She was born in Manhattan, New York. A very early interest in healthcare led her to pursue an Associate of Science in Nursing from Northeast Area One Vocational Technical School in Calmer, Iowa, in 1977. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, in 1994. Since the mid-1970's Suki Horne has practiced nursing in Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont in private duty, hospital, clinic, home health, and institutional settings. The breadth of her experience encompasses geriatrics, convalescent care, surgery, vascular surgery, pediatrics, anesthesia, orthopedics, arthroscopy, intermediate care, intensive care, and emergency care. As a nurse, her focus has always been on providing total patient care by attuning herself to the patient and learning all that can be gleaned from each and every case. She expanded her nursing skills and knowledge as her career progressed, yet felt increasingly constrained when coming up against the limitations of Western medicine. Suki was sensitive to patients whose options had, seemingly, run out. She was deeply distressed hearing physicians tell patients that they had no other hope to offer, because she knew that these patients had a spectrum of unmet needs. In 1991 Suki's mother was diagnosed with shingles. Western medicine did not relieve her pain. Her mother sought treatment from an acupuncturist and experienced dramatic results that sparked Suki's interest in alternative therapies. She began to study the Usui System of Reiki in 1992, and received the designation of Reiki Master in 1997. She completed the Master Program of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Florida School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Gainesville, Florida, in 1999. Suki opened her private practice as a Licensed Acupuncturist in Tallahassee, Florida, caring for patients in a healing partnership between provider and patient in a continuous journey that embraces the benefits of both Western and Eastern therapies. Acupuncture is a 3,500 year old primary care modality that seeks to identify and correct imbalance at the root cause. It does not merely treat and cure isolated symptoms, but facilitates improved quality of life and ability to function. Using natural laws, energetics, and needle stimulation Suki treats the Body, Mind, and Spirit of patients in all stages of life, including offering patients facing terminal conditions the opportunity to achieve a vital self-reconnection to find comfort, peace of mind, and ease from physical pain. As part of her commitment to continuously enhance her ability to treat patients, Suki completed a program of study in Chinese Herbology at the Florida School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in early 2001. She practices as both an Acupuncture Physician and a Registered Nurse, offering patients a unique blend of Western and alternative treatments. In addition to holding a national professional certification through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Suki is a member of the American Association of Oriental Medicine (AAOM), the Florida State Oriental Medicine Association (FSOMA), and the Toyo Hari Association.
